Salpingitis
Salpingitis is the inflammation of the fallopian tubes. Anatomical arrangement of the uterine horn and the fallopian tube was thought to favour easy spread of infection from the uterus to the tube.
However, on post-mortem examinations of large number of specimens, visible lesions of uterine tubes have been found to be few with the exception of tuberculous salpingitis and ovarobursal adhesions.
As a high proportions of pyometra and puerperal metritis conceive if treated early, it is thought that the tendency for tubular infection is not high.
