Hypocalcemia in Sows

Sows (female pigs) are occasionally suffered with hypocalcemia.

Hypocalcemia in sow develops MMA complex (Mastitis, Metritis, Agalactia). Etiology and clinical signs are similar to milk fever in cow.

High temperature, swollen mammary gland, uterine discharge, loss of appetite and toxemia are some clinical signs can be observed. Respond well with calcium therapy and also needs treatment for toxemic condition accordingly.
