Excretion of Urine – Histology

The kidneys perform their functions by-

  1. Filtration of blood plasma in the glomeruli,
  2. Selective reabsorption by the tubules of substances which the body needed to retain,
  3. Active excretion by the tubules of certain substances to be added to the urine and
  4. Exchange of Hydrogen ions and formation of ammonia as a part of the process of acid base regulation.

‘Excretion of Urine’ part will be discussed in detail in physiology course.
